Taste of the Point – January 2022
Happy New Year!
This month we set our culinary sites on the best hamburger within walking distance from the office. We looked at three different venues that served hamburgers, Harbor Town, Ketch Grill and Taps, and Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern and the winner is … Ketch Grill and Taps!
Now you wouldn’t think that a seafood restaurant would serve up a good burger but they do. At Ketch Grill and Taps we had the unpretentious 10oz double cheeseburger with bacon and found it to be very satisfying. The bun was fresh and lightly grilled, the burger was very tasty and not greasy, and the toppings were fresh and not overdone. We ordered fries with the burger and they were crisp and had a nice flavor. The main dining room has a nice contemporary vibe with a center bar, and the outside patio has nice views of the harbor. Overall very nice.
Next was Harbor Town, a bar that has a large selection of “pub grub” that was a favorite of one of the reviewers. Their 5 different burger offerings included toppings like eggs, blue cheese, or BBQ sauce. But this made them a little messy to eat but still satisfying.
Finally, Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern at Fisherman’s Landing describes itself as serving “classic American fare”. We sat in the outside patio, and the view of the marina was nice and relaxing. We decided to order their “Famous Cheeseburger” and it was tasty but a little on the greasy side, which made the bun soggy, but the fries were very good with a nice seasoning that was not overpowering.
Check us out next month for our next recommendation on Taste of the Point, because it’s what you eat that matters!
